If AMEX acts like Chase you closing your card will not help.   My friend's AARP card (was waiting to get 2nd round) was re-closed by chase 2 months later and got blacklisted.  Her credit report snapshots showed Chase's sneaky action.  Did not affect her credit score in anyway.  But likely AMEX is not chase.

I converted the card into BCP, and then decided I should really do the CL transfer and close... the rep tonight (via chat) said she was only able to transfer $600 of the CL to my SPG account.

Is it common for them not to let you transfer your CL to another card? Should I wait a few days and try again or just try again asap?
