Yes

(Some rental companies will still force you to buy their insurance)

Thanks. If the rental co. forces you to buy insurance, can I then later dispute the charges?

Dan, didn't you have such a situation that they forced you to buy insurance? Did you successfully dispute it?
Thanks in advance for everything

the world mastercard only covers damage to the rental car and the rental agency forces you to take liability

Many World MasterCard agreements state:
"
Where you are covered:
In general, coverage applies worldwide, but there are exceptions:
> You may be unable to receive benefits in Australia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, and New Zealand. Please contact your vehicle rental agency
before you travel.
> Coverage is not available where prohibited by law.
"

So how is everyone 100% sure they will cover in Israel? Has anyone ever made a claim before and it got paid or is it all just speculation?

Thanks!

By the way, I saw this here:

http://www.capitalone.com/creditcards/pdfs/GTB_World_MC_forweb.pdf?linkid=WWW_0608_CARD_TGUNS01_BGUI_C1_08_T_Z

and have heard that the same is written on the AA World MasterCard Agreement

I also rented by Budget TLV, and they told me that my amex plat doesn't cover me by them (although amex states that yes), but that the USA Mastercard wouldn't need another insurance coverage to be paid.

About disputing; you can dispute the whole rental if you wish (make sure to sign with your other hand and that it shouldn't look like your signature), however it may be a yiddishe company, and in that case since they ARE paying for your insurance, you wouldn't want to be made BBQ after 120 chas vsholom.

daniel, if you call them, i think they will tell you that they cover in israel. and with all companies that accept the world card as insurance, you still must pay for liability

AMEX does not cover Israel. Only Mastercard World does, but feel free to call up MasterRental to confirm.

Even with a Mastercard World every company is Israel are a bunch of Ganaovim and force you to buy 3rd party liability regardless of what it said when you rented the car online.

I've successfully disputed the 3rd party liability amount of ther rental in the past, and am in middle of a dispute between my Continental Presidential Plus Wold Mastercard and my Budget rental made via Expedia.

What someone tells you over the phone won't do much good if you are looking at a $20,000 unpaid claim. What I don't get is them telling you to contact the rental agency. Is it not MasterCard would deny/accept the claim- why would the rental agency know?

record the call

If you don't tell them that you are recording, it has no legal value; if you do tell them, they are likely to hang up.

Not necessarily.
And if they do just hang up then I'll call back and just inform the robot that answers the phone that the conversation may be recorded.

Legal or not legal recording a phone call can get results.

Anyway back on this topic,
-All World Mastercards have coverage in Israel, don't sweat it.
-All Israeli rental agencies will force you buy 3rd party liability even with a World Mastercard, but they will force you buy more expensive insurances if you don't have a world Mastercard.
