Best Starwood vacation to warm climate for 4-5 days
« on: December 20, 2010, 08:08:44 PM »
The best short vacation using SPG points we have taken to an exotic warm climate during the winter was at the Le Meridian in Cancun. Would love to go back but Wife wants to try somewhere new. I know Hawaii is the ultimate but we don't have enough time. The few hotels in the Caribbean don't seem to be anything special. We will be leaving from NY. Any ideas??????

To Steve: Thanks, I was looking into that but after reading many review the Westin Aruba does not seem to be impressive at all. It sounds more like a 4 points!! Have you been there and if you have what was your experience?

to brooklyn. i did  sun to thurs in aruba and enjoyed it and had enough to do. it all depends on you r expectations but the room was nice and the hotel is nice too. when reading reviews on tripadvisor i always take them wth a grain of salt bec they are usually complaining how expensive the food is which doesnt apply.

I also have a certficate for a free night stay there that they gave to me for free so maybe we can work something out.

I also see you went to italy which i am doing this summer and would love some advice on your end.

We don't like to travel so long for such a short stay. We will save Hawaii for when we have more time! Aruba sounds like an option but the reviews for the Westin are horrible.

What a pity Le Meridian Cancun is leaving Starwood as it was one of the best values out there for a catagory 4 property.  :(

Does anyone know what the weather in Arizona (Phonecian) is in February?

Mrs. Elite Flyer and I are also looking for a place to go from NY between Jan 4th pm/ 5th - Jan 11th. Like you we are looking for a warm place, in the US, with Hyatt or SPG. We did Hawaii last Jan, which was awesome, but I don't want to splurge the time, miles, or $$$ on such a short trip.

For now, we have tickets on hold to San Diego (PH Aviara, and other assorted possibilities); LA; FLL/PBI; and Orlando. From what I can tell, the weather has been wet and chilly lately in FL...

I suppose that's a benefit. It makes HI an actual escape from Brooklyn (unlike south FL) :-)

Definitely a chance for better weather in AZ than San Diego in February.  So Cal weather is usually nice (60s), but in AZ you have a chance for really nice (70s-80s).

I also think the Westin Kierland is as nice or better than the Phoenician and is a better point value.  Haven't been the Wild Horse Pass in Chandler but that has great reviews.
