Wow, great installment! Your TR is really psyching me up for our trip in Jan. I can't wait for the rest (hopefully before we go)! Great job!

ETA: If you had to do it again, would you recommend driving around West Maui the other way instead of the way you did it? It would seem to lessen the chances of you having to back up, right?

Thanks everyone  ;D ;D ;D!

I would do it from the other side since the views are supposed to be even better in that direction. You would still have the chance of having to back down, but you'd be going along with most of the traffic so you're chances would be slimmer I suppose.

Coming from Kula it makes far more sense to go east to west.

That's what I thought. We'd be coming from the Andaz so we'll just go clockwise.

Just make sure you leave yourself a lot of time - you do not want to be on that road after dark. Most of the attractions are on the western half, so it's easy to dawdle and lost track of time before you've gone too far.

How much time after the Olivine pools do you need?
It looks like it's only 1 hour to Kahului, but I mean how long if you take your time.

I really don't know.
1 - We weren't even planning on going there, as we were going to do the Venus Pool past Hana instead.
2 - Even if we had wanted to go, there was not a single safe spot in the ocean that day due to the hurricanes.
