my suggestion is besides any antivirus suggestions which others may have, run msconfig (run in xp or earlier type into search box in vista or later) then sort through the startup files and disable basically everything, this way the virus can't start up. Next try finding it with another antivirus (you can try avg portable).

You're never supposed to have more than one Anti-virus running on a system.
He only has one, the others are anti-malware

These viruses (the fake 'antiviruses') happen all the time. Those and the browser proxy viruses that redirect Google search results.

Why can't Microsoft get its act together and plug the holes that are allowing these viruses to keep spreading?

For the same reason they on purpose leave bugs in software.

Lets see if you figure that one out.

They have the biggest team working on their software, but remain problematic...?  Not likely.

To me it basically the same thing as an ipad with no built in camera or with only 8 gb. Or a small artscroll siddur, etc etc. Now u need to buy all the added accessories plus you buy the next one when it comes out with the built in camera. That's business

hi - got the same virus - its called security sheied after researching the web I gor rid of it.
step 1 - on a clean computer download malware bytes anti malware (free)
step 2 start computer in safemode (or safemode with networking so the malware can update to latest version) - this can be done by pressing f8 while booting
step 3 run malware scan to clean computer
step 4 - I also had to delete the program from the folder it was downloaded in while in safe mode - most people do not have to do this (by me it was in user-local settings-application data - make sure you see hidden files)
reboot

good luck

OK ok here you go: On all windows computers you press F8 to go into safe mode unless configured otherwise, you just have to know when to press it. Also there are many such viruses, it would not be safe to assume that you both have the same one.
