Under a certain age they can tag along. I believe that age is 12.

That is only TSA Precheck. Everyone, even babies need their own Global Entry.

I was able to bring my kid along when using GE. The wife and I both have GE and they didn't really say anything.

Our family has global entry.  The fingerprint scanners don't work on the little kids because apparently they dont have "readable" fingerprints yet.  For us, the parents, we went through without a problem, but then had to fill out paperwork for the little kids (3 and 2) and they let us cut the line.

Last year I flew into JFK with my 16 year old who didn't have GE.
I told them I have GE but he doesn't.
They let him go to the front of the line to an officer.

+1 same situation,
Family has GE but kids don't have prints on file.
Officer let us cut the line and also told us it is a waste of time/money to do GE for kids as they can always come with you.

Officially you can't do GE when you're traveling with a child that doesn't have GE, if you do so they can revoke your GE for life, I wouldn't try without asking an officer first
