Disputing an Orbitz charge with AMEX
« on: December 29, 2010, 04:00:53 PM »
I booked a ticket on Orbitz right before AA announced that they will not be selling through them. I was looking for a flight in a specific time frame, and not finding one, I booked a later flight on Orbitz. I then found the ideal flight on AA.com. Can I dispute this charge through AMEX?

Chargeback on what grounds? You knew what you were buying and you agreed to pay that price.

since when do they claim that they show every flight!?

diputing a charge is done when u r charged for something you didn't agree to, here this is not the case.

I don't see how you'll win such a chargeback.
I'm sure AA would be happy to accept a change fee though.  Perhaps you can get an AMEX Plat or get someone who has one to sell you part of their $200 credit at a discounted rate.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thank you, Dan. I appreciate all that you do and try to recipricate by clicking on your links to get to Orbitz,Priceline, Hotwire, etc.
The ticket Ibought through Orbitz is on Continental. Is there any way I can get them to waive their $150 fee to change the flight? Thanx.
