Do Americans ever use this word other than to refer to the first decade of the third millennium?
It's just interesting how this British word has somewhat made it in the US in this context specifically and no other.

Ummm, the entire language is British in origin?

They use the word "aught" in almost every place we use "zero" or "oh"
The only place I've ever heard an American use it is to refer to the first decade of the third millennium
but I edited the OP to make it clear.
