Cancelling a Priceline ticket
« on: December 16, 2014, 09:58:48 PM »
I can't imagine this wasn't discussed yet (I even think I may have read a little about it here a while ago) but I looked and looked and can't find the right thread. Feel free to direct me to another thread or merge if it was discussed already.
So I bought an international flight on priceline ($613) a while back and now need to cancel. I called them and they said that since it is a nonrefundable ticket, the best I could do is change the ticket for $300 (+fare change) + a $30 priceline fee. Am I able to change it to a fully refundable ticket (obviously I'll still have to pay the $330 in fees) and then cancel that ticket for a refund? Will that work? Any other options?

Don't think that will work. Best bet is to hope for some kind of schedule change or delay and try to get it cancelled then.

Agree with Marco Polo and even then you really need to push. They're steadfast in not allowing you to refund. In fact, if you dispute the charge, they'll likely fight you on it too. From personal experience, I fought them for months, when a flight change threw my honeymoon plans in the air. Disputed the charge and ultimately resolved it, but it was beyond painful.

Priceline is great as long as you are within their guidelines, they are not known to waver otherwise

That's only if you need to cancel your trip due to medical emergency etc, not if you just decided to cancel.
They'll ask for proof.

In '12 I was able to get a refund on a Priceline for a hotel. I called Priceline first, and they said they would approve it if the hotel approved the refund. Then I called the hotel and they said the same thing. I eventually had to connect the person from the hotel to a rep from Priceline, but it worked.

I noticed when trying to book a flight to PLS yesterday that the priceline confirmation page said the ticket could not be cancelled, and their "see more info" link had nothing about the 24 hour rule or the 11:29pm rule. I contacted their online help and the woman said that the window was only 11:29pm the DAY YOU ORDER and not the next day. She said after that they couldn't guarantee the flight could be cancelled without charge. I mentioned the 24 hour rule, and she said that she knew I was referring to the 24 hour rule and that the policy is 11:29 the night you book. Has the rule changed? Has anyone else encountered this problem in 2015? These were not name your own price flights.

(I booked and cancelled the NYC Milan/Paris/HK glitch tickets last year without any problems).

thanks!

Is there anyway I can  cancel a priceline ticket without a fee? ,  booked a ticket with spirit,  after reading their cancellation rules I noticed that the 24 hr rule doesn't apply to spirit,  I'm still within 24 hr is there anything I can do?
