Price hike in Verizon contract - looking for solution
« on: December 18, 2014, 12:54:02 PM »
Hey guys -

Verizon's 13th month kicked in meaning that my internet went from $35 (i only get internet) to $56.

I called them to threaten with competition and switching to a cheaper service to see if they are willing to go down. They came back saying that I knew that the contract would make the price go up in month 13 and that they have no promotions they can offer me until my contract runs out (24 months). They say that they are sad to lose a customer but that I need to make my choice.

Anyone have better experiences with this or a better approach to get them to lower the price?

Thanks!

Not sure I fully understand. I looked and Verizon is not offering anything on Verizon.

If I wanted to leave to optimum would there be a penalty to pay for verizon or can I leave Verizon without a problem?

Ask to actually speak with a termination agent.  They're usually more accommodating than standard reps.

Just did that. Saying they cant offer me anythign for internet alone. If I wanted the cheapest Bundle with TV it would be 90+. Obv not what I am looking for. In addition there is a $67 early termination fee for cancelling contract.

Wonder if Optimum would take over those $67.

Was it similar as in that you only had internet? Their whole point seems to be that they cant offer me anything for internet alone but only offer me bundles.  ??? I know they want more money from me! No thank you.

I had a double play, internet and cable, but they played that card too and said it would be easier to get a better deal with a triple play.

Called just now. Got a nice lady that wanted to sweeten up my holidays :).

Free upgrade on the speed and she was able to lower my monthly bill going fwd by another $10 a month. Considering that I called bc it went up by $20 a month I am happy. Now only paying $10 more and have better speed.
