Gary reviewed this hotel which is in the airport. Very cheap rates: http://viewfromthewing.boardingarea.com/2014/05/29/choose-airport-hotel-abu-dhabi/

Hmmmm, unless you want to visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, theres not anything unique in AUH that can be done during a 6 HR layover. Make sure you have lounge access while your there.

But everyone seems to say that the Mosque is the best attraction there, so I would try to see it.

If you're interested in seeing the mosque then definitely go for it

I plan on it.  If anyone has a list of the "must sees" I'd appreciate it.  Will only be there for 2 full days and we want to hit up both AD and Dubai.  Not sure where we're going to stay yet.

Spend all your time in dubai, IMO.
Unless you want to see the Grand Mosque,  there is plenty of awe inspiring things to do in Dubai, nothing much in Abu Dhabi besides some shopping Malls.

I will be in Dubai in February and recently discovered some great savings with buy one get one free coupons for many of Dubai's attractions and dining using the "Entertainer Dubai 2015". It includes as many as 3 of these BOGO passes for a number of the major water and theme parks. I was wondering if anyone was interested in splitting one of these books or chipping in for whatever coupons you may need, their about $115 USD. PM me so we can discuss specifics.

I'm gonna be in AUH for a one day stopover on the way back from JNB with the EY deal. Landing 3/17 6:50A; Departing 3/18 8:30A.

I have a bunch of Hyatt points, so my thought is to stay in one of the two Hyatts there - does anyone have any experience or reccomendations for one over the other? Is the the Park Hyatt worth the extra 8K points over the Capitol Gate (20K vs. 12K). I'm gonna try to see whatever needs to be seen in the city, so probably won't be spending too much time in the room, thought I do hope to enjoy some lounging in the sun by the pool/beach before heading back to cold, miserable Chicago. Also, with the 8:30A outta AUH, we probably gotta head for the airport pretty early so we have time to go through CBP Pre-Clearance (I have Global Entry, but my travel companion does not.), so I assume that GP Diamond breakfast at the PH is probably not a factor here. Has anyone even had success with a kosher breakfast there in the first place?

Also, any must-sees for my day in Abu Dhabi? The Grand Mosque is definitely on our list, any others? Has anyone been to Ferrari World? I'm a roller coaster junkie, so going on the world's fastest coaster is tempting...

All advice is appreciated! Thanks!

The airport has sleep pods to rent that start at $14/hour.
Does anyone know if they use camel milk at all in the UAE, or strictly cow?

Holy cow (pun intended)! You wanna rely on "chaleiv companies" in UAE?

Why would I not be interested in it?

It seems like there's an issue visiting there.

Any Hyatt / spg hotel recommendations for someone travelling with a bunch of kids that needs to crash for the night in between flights? Looking more for space rather than luxury.

Guys,

I have tickets to HK through AUE booked when Eithad had the glitch.
I'm starting to get nervous. I read the posts that it's OK to be there, especially when only going through the airport. But I'm a Chasidishe guy with long Payos (yes, I know that I can tuck them away. I'm doing that) and beard. In my passport picture I have everything out, no mistaking there.

Do I have to be scared?

Thank you I really appreciate this place and your answers.

I daved openly with my teffilin in AUH. No issue. I even davened mincha in the airport mosque whilst they were chating allah huakbar. I've been all around the gulf countries and honestly I feel much safer then when I was in Brussels, paris, oslo etc
