Baggage Question

We are flying to the Caribbean next week. We are flying from LGA through MIA. The baggage policy of AA flying to the Caribbean is 2 free checked bags. Does this apply to the LGA-MIA part of the trip as well or only from MIA?

if you purchased a ticket that stops over then there should be no charge
