Noticed this today on the reduced mileage award site (which is updated for may btw). Searched and didn't see any posts about this.. But i think if this is waiving the $25 phone booking fee these just got a lot better.

"Important Information:

There is no longer a fee associated with booking Reduced Mileage Awards through reservations."

I thought i saw an * with a $35 fee may apply to bookings...

Hrmmmmm at the bottom you're right. I wonder what fee is "no longer associated."

The Citi® / AAdvantage® card primary cardmember needs to book the flights with their miles.

Reduced Mileage Awards are redeemed over the phone or in person and service charges may apply. Fees are waived for AAdvantage® Executive Platinum members and AAirpass® customers. All such additional amounts are subject to change. Flights and availability are subject to change without notice.

To redeem Reduced Mileage Awards:

Book through an airport agent ($35 Award service charge per person) or
Book through a ticket office ($20 Award service charge per person).

I haven't seen a routing i would use AA for that i would realistically take. Though if work clears a little, i'll try and make a call.

Don't forget hidden city works.

Can book JFK-LAX-MRY and LAX-EWR.

I did forget that. Changes things.

Could have used a flight in May, but MRY is not reduced then. I'll keep looking for something, or plan another trip sooner.

Has anyone tried changing a booking to a month that isn't eligible for that destination - For example, looking at EWR, it's not eligible for a reduction in April when I need it. Can I book that route for March and then change it to April?

That would be awesome since I am going to LAX on Thursday. However, PIT-MRY stops in PHX!

You should be able to book PIT-ORD-LAX-MRY.

US flies PIT-LAX, but it has to be AA metal.

Never give up. If it was booked with an AA cc you have good chances for a easy dispute
