SSD are way faster than a regular HDD. only good for ppl that don't need a lot of storage or have a 2nd SATA connection.
you would want to boot your computer and have the main programs on SSD. all other of docs, music, video and pics keep on HDD.
you  can either Clone your hard drive to the sdd or you can try to re install everything on the ssd. i think samsung offers a free migrating service for this.

make sure that swapping drives won't void your warranty. depends on the laptop

I've been following the price of these SSD for quite a while now, and I don't believe that it's a great deal whatsoever. Looking at the prices of the 250gb and 1tb one, and the prices on Samsung's website, I think that it's simply a new decrease in flash memory prices. Happens every few months.

i have been tracking prices too. yes prices are trending downwards if you want you can also wait till manufacturers stop using SATA altogether but in the meantime this is the cheapest i've seen a good SSD go for.

True but I believe someone looking for a replacement is more likely to go with a higher storage, and the 250gb has been cheaper than twice the price of the 120 now.

This is technology we're talking about, a little like the "deals" on USB 2.0 devices .. I'm just saying this for people not to think it's a limited price and buy it even though they wouldn't have bought it in the next 2+ months.

It's a good price, but unless you will not use it to store pictures/put your pics on an external hard drive/in the cloud, it's really not big enough.
There was a real last will for 16GB ram + a 256 GB ssd drive for $120, which was a much better deal than this
