Some of it is adapted from ddf posts of course.
But here's my trip, I'll leave the costs for 2 people. It was really cheap overall, especially flying on $88 tickets.

The restaurants and hotel are only the ones I was at.
The hotel was a great SPG value, the restaurants were meh.

Areas:
North Dallas (South Eruv) and Far North Dallas (North Eruv)- Home to Jewish communities, shuls and restaurants
Downtown Dallas- Where most local attractions are based. 12 minute drive from North Dallas.
Fort Worth- Home to the Stockyards.

Attractions:
Galleria mall- A pretty mall with a nice ice skating rink.
Frontiers flight museum - $16
Stockyards cattle drive - $5
Rahr & Son's Brewery - $20 Awesome brewery where I met load of unique people. Like the beard competition group. And the cowboy with the crazy mustache/beard.
Dallas Mavericks - $42 +$15 parking
Dallas Aboretum (not during winter) - $10 + $10 parking
Chinese lantern festival (seasonal) - $16 + $5
Dallas Stars - $40 + $10 Parking
Klyde Warren park - Free but fun modern park with lots of mini attractions
Billy Bobs Saturday night bull riding - $36 + $5 great experience watching live bull riding.
Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo (seasonal) Didn't go, but supposed to be good.
Perot museum- Heard about it after my trip, supposed to be a really cool hands-on museum.

Restaurants and kosher food:
Mon Ami Cafe
Aderet grill
Tom Thumb supermarket

Hotel:
Sheraton at the Galleria

Here are some things I did when I was there a couple of years ago: Alamo, riverwalk, took a horse and carriage ride around the city (we were bored and it was a good deal), spent hours in the souvenir shops reading the awesome slogans on the t-shirts (if you're into politics). We also found this really cool historic town called Gruene, it's about a 40 minute drive from San Antonio but worth it! There are a bunch of shops along a road and a town hall which often has performers. We spent quite a bit of time browsing the shops, playing pool in the town hall, sitting by the fire pit, and enjoying the vibe.

Right out of San Antonio they've got these places they call guest ranches or dude ranches. They offer sleeping accommodations plus a whole day horseback riding, horseback riding lessons, lassoing, chilling, listening to Western stories by the campfire, etc. Some are more expensive some cheaper, and some offer day packages with just activities no staying over if that's what you want. Check out online a place called Rancho Cortez. I went there and for 80$ got half day package with 10-6 day of fun stuff. Can't be beat, especially if the owner Larry is around-he's been to Israel and he's the real cowboy deal.

Going to texas next week. San Antonio for 2 days, austin for a day, dallas for a day, then waco for a day.
Any fun ideas with a 22 month old? Also any restaurants in dallas/waco that are gluten free friendly?
