Discover announced a new card that earns 1.5 miles per a dollar. And they will double all miles earned after your first year. That's 3 cents back on a dollar. Seems like a pretty solid cash back card.

Just found it. No sign up bonus. Other than the double first year miles, looks the same as arrival+ except lower rate of earning.

Not necessarily.
Spend 40k in first year and it's same as arrival plus excluding the extra 10 percent.

Once you have the arrival and got the bonus this card is better for all spending

The two questions raised by FM are really important. They would made this an extremely lucrative card (assuming that we make it to the second year):

1. Will Discover really double all points earned including those earned through Discover Deals?
2. Will customers have the ability to redeem points for merchant gift cards the way they can currently with Discover It cash back?

I suspect the answer to both will be no.

According to doctor of credit discover isn't allowing product changes, but do allow a second card with new app.

I agree. But why do you care if we can redeem miles for merchant gift cards?
