Spg is overdue on their yearly category change announcement. My gut tells me that it will come tomorrow, and it won't be pretty on the US hotels.

Made a reservation today and of course the redemption rate went up today as well, any way I can get the old rates honored

Anyone had success modifying a reservation (changing dates a week later for example) at a hotel whose category went up since reservation? They are requiring me to pay the extra points now even though i want to switch to a less busy week that costs less at cash rates...

i did you need to call spg and they will reach out too hotel and help you

Did it ever go down to a category 3? I know it was supposed to but the few times I checked since the list came out it was always a category 4. I was going to look into it the next time I wanted to stay there but that hasn't happened yet.

Wow. I would imagine this should make it to DDMS.
I have a stay booked for 3/3/16 in a hotel that is going down from a category 5 to a 4 on 3/1, and I need to cancel by 2/29 in order to not get penalized, any idea how to go about making sure I don't get the worse end of this?.
