It would be helpful if you included a blurb explaining the situation

Nebach. I remember him, he used to work in Flohr's judaica on 13th Ave. He was a special special person, just donated.

I don't usually follow links without a description
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

If you're looking for other people to give tzedakah, the least you can do is put a brief explanation of what it's for.

No, considering the scams that get posted.  If it was really important to him he would post details. If it's not important enough for the op to copy and paste them why should it be important enough for me. To be blunt there are unfortunately hundreds of tzedakahs like this out there an drew ones every day (fire in brooklyn), so if someone wants people to give to their charity over another the need an explanation.

Are you sure this isn't a scam?

Yeshiva world claims it is...

I don't know if it is or isn't, but if it's on yeshiva world, it MUST be true.

That's why you write a blurb with the link, so confusion such as this doesn't occur. Among many other reasons.

I'm a little disconnected from the yeshivishe velt so forgive my admitted ignorance.  Is there an emphasis on the importance of life insurance in that community?   It seems that there's always a husband/father that passes away leaving the community to pay for his family to rebuild?  Why do these families not have life insurance and are the rabonim making it a priority?

I know it was discussed a few years back and now they have areivim which is for rebbeim, if one in the group passes away they charge each one $7 per orphan up to 4 orphans per month for a total of 100k per orphan if there are more than 4 they charge the next month
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I never heard of Areivim.  An interesting idea and the people who organized it should be commended, but ultimately it's still based on tzedaka.  Why not just get life insurance?

???

Sounds a bit like Obama that "everyone needs health insurance". Some have it and some don't. No need for rabonim to get involved.

Why not just get life insurance?
That (probably) isn't a possibility this late in the game with the father's condition. It's a good question but (probably) not applicable to the OP's link.
