Guangzhou, China Master Thread
« on: April 01, 2015, 04:39:13 PM »
Did anyone attend the Canton Fair in Guangzhou.
Where did you stay and eat?
I'm thinking of staying at the Westin Pazhou Hotel the pros are that Chabad is in the Westin and it's next to the Fair, but the problem is that on Shabbos you need to go up 20+ flights.

heres some info.

http://www.cantonfairkosher.org/
There is actually 3 options there
1. Westin with Chabad,
It's connected to the fair complex, and they have reserved shuttles to take you between the fair buildings.
The hotel starts on the 20th floor, (by last fair they provided a Shabbos elevator) the lights on the stairways always went on even though the hotel promised that they shut it, The food is so so

2. Ritz with Khilas Tzion
The hotel is beautiful, food is very good (they bring in the food from HKG) the only thing is that its a 20-30 min drive from the fair.

3. Hotels near Chabad
In busy fair season could be there 3-400 people the food is so so, and its far from the fair ground.

I was just there for phase 2. I was never at the Westin but from what I hear the food is real bad. The Ritz was beautiful and the food was delicious. Regarding the traveling to the fair aspect I didn't feel all that effected as the hotel provides shuttles both ways and it took approximately 20 min. The fair is open nine hours so even if you end up missing out an hour it's not that terrible.

The RC it is not kosher year round AFAIK only when the Canton fair is in town. There is a chabad house where you might be able to get food year round.
