Picked up some 200 vanilla visa at office depot and 200 MC at office max, no fees on either.

OD stopped taking CC for GCs at least a couple years ago. OM did accept though. Are you saying that after the merger, the ODs picked up OM's more lenient policy?

BTW, this is slightly OT but OM merged with OD over a year ago. As of last month, OD is in turn being subsumed in Staples. So it seems they are the last man standing.

Can only buy fixed amount GCs with CC at OD. The variable ones were still cash only. Was able to pickup a $200 vanilla visa with CC at OD with no fees.
