Earning mileage: Infants (who don't pay for a full ticket) are not eligible to earn miles.

Luggage: Some people report that their friend or parent flew and got lucky. However, it's best to check with the Airline (on their website or calling them), BEFORE packing your suitcases. Here are some helpful links, plus a summary of baggage allowed for lap infants.
Child paying 10% of fare can check a small suitecase up to 10kg/20lb. Child paying 50%+ of adult fare can check standard baggage allowance (one full size suitcase 23kg/50lb) both are +stroller and car seat. One carry on + booster or infant seat + pump and cooler
1 chacked bag at same rate as adults first bag + 1 stroller + 1 car seat. 1 carry-on diaper bag per child is allowed + pump + milk cooler + (stroller??)
1 stroller + 1 carseat. carry on: diaper bag, pump, carry one size stroller, carseat
1 checked bag up to 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller 1 carseat. 1 carry on up to 13lb/6kg or a carry on size stroller
  • BA
1 checked bag 50lbs/23kg + two of the following: stroller,car/booster seat,travel cot,babyack carrier. 1 extra carryon bag.
  • ElAL
1 checked bag 50lb/23kg. 1 stroller or car seat. NO carry on. (its not like their makpid these days any way  :))
[/list]

Proof: Some airlines require proof of age. Rather bring along some kind of proof, and not get stuck because of an gate agent or TSA guard that had a bad day.

Infants are cute.

So I keep holding the seat for 5 days at a time (re-holding when 5 days end) in an attempt to keep the seat open... good tactic?
Eh, it can't hurt. I booked flights in November for a trip I'm hopefully taking next month, all 4 legs, still have an open seat between us. Being that it's a long flight, I'm going to do whatever I can to make sure it stays like that.
Memories last forever, make them while you can.

if i have an international AA award ticket and booked/paid for an infant in arms. If i upgrade the award to business with more miles, would i have to pay more for the infant ticket (10% of business is alot more) or once i have the infant ticket it stays with me?

Infant must be in your ticketed cabin

I'm a soon to be parent (b"h) with a few questions:

1. If I am unable to fly because the MD says it's not safe to fly with an infant below a certain age, does that qualify for reimbursement from travel insurance on my CSR? Does it matter if the infant has their own seat? I'd be looking to refund all seats for me + wife + baby (if we buy him/her own seat). Are 3rd party travel insurance more generous in this regard?

2. Has anyone tried to book a ticket for a baby who is not yet born (with their own seat)? Since they don't need ID to fly, can we pick a name for the first name to fly? Gender is known.

3. I've heard that if child is lap child, nothing need be done until check-in if flying domestically, at which point we indicate that there's a lap child. Is that true on all airlines?

Thanks!

2 - We tried this for an international flight and it was a mess. Wrote BABY as first name, airline wouldn't let us change it once she was born. We got lucky and they reimbursed us for all flights. (This was with TAP.)

I assume international is not possible because you need passport. Asking for domestic where no ID is required.

Can I bring my Doona car-seat on-board for lap-child? Have Bulkhead/Bassinet seats reserved in BA Business.

If I'm bringing two car seats, will they let us sit together in a middle section with 5 seats?

International travel q.
When booking a business mileage ticket on LH, should I write that the infant is 2+ instead of 1 1/2?

Yes if you intend to buy an adult seat for baby.

If I write that he's 1 1/2 he won't get the seat even if I booked the seat for him with miles?

I'm flying on ua 777-200. I bought a seat for my 1 year old. Will his car seat fit in a bulkhead seat?
