Disputing A Charge with Chase
« on: April 20, 2015, 05:52:17 PM »
I had a hotel with a BRG that they approved, then decided 1 month later that it was forfeited because I did not book with a valid credit card.

I stayed by the hotel and they required a cc for incidentals, Mine wasn't on me, so a friend that was with me provided his card (the hotel clerk promised that the room was already paid for and they just needed a card for incidentals). The next week IHG charged him for the full stay. Any chance of wining a charge-back/dispute?

TIA

Title is misleading, U should write something about disputing a BRG that was previously approved in the Title

What do you mean you're disputing Chase? Aren't you disputing an IHG charge? So you're disputing IHG?

I only had one experience which  needed to be meditated, and in that case the chase rep definitely took my side. Was almost screaming at the other companies Rep that what she was saying doesn't make sense...

And my friend has a rep from their accounting dept. recorded admitting that it was a fraudulent charge.

make sure that its allowed legally to record without consent in that location. don't want to get in trouble over the recording while winning the charge.

I am very familiar with the laws in the US, because I record all the time, this was in Canada though. Apparently it is legal there as well, so I should be good to go.

IME depends which Chase card. I once had to dispute 2 charges, from same merchant, same amounts, one on CSP one on SWP (Premier). The SWP gave me big issue, had to HUCA numerous times until they listened to me. CSP was painless, I'm assuming because it's a "higher level" card.

I've found CSP's to be just as good if not better than AMEX (some AMEX's at least) for these things.

I had a dispute on the BA card, service was terrible, took 4 months to get an answer till finally hearing I won the dispute,(partially because the merchants ignored their request for info) then the credit posted to my account, thenI suddenly see they reversed the credit because the merchant issued a rebuttal that's all they tell me nothing more, and keep saying if I want I can redispute it as first case is closed, when I tried redisputing it they said its to late its past the time frame. so that was it just had to give up as there was no one to talk to anymore.
