A 'refundable' airline ticket.  You can cancel the ticket a few weeks after booking it, that's still a week or two before the flight and get all the money back?

Yup. But those tickets are usually much more expensive then the regular.

yes.  A foreigner coming into the US needs proof that she's going home.  But when she's here, she hopes to change her immigration status.  If she does, she won't need to use the ticket at all.
Thanks.

I'm looking into direct Tlv-vce ticket. Revenue price is $406. With el-al it would be 400 matmid points= 20k mr plus $94 in tax & fees. Is that a good value for my mr points, or should I just buy the ticket ?

If you price MR pts as the cc does at 1 cent per point (cpp), then 20K MR is $200 + 94 tax = $294 for the pts ticket.
If you sell the MR on the underground market, they're worth around 1.4 cpp.  so 20K MR is $280 + 94 = $374 which is close to the $406 revenue price, and on the revenue ticket you earn points.
So- 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

How many miles would I earn on that flight ?

Seems like the plane stops for an hour but you will not be getting off (picking up more passengers and then off to Washington)

I don't know for sure but my guess is that it's a stop where you are not changing planes (ground time is 1 hour)

I currently have fra(lh)-lhr(ua)-ord-cle booked in business from ANA.
Is there any way I can book tlv-fra and have it added to itin (I would like the extra baggage)?

Anyone know of a flight tracking website where you can track  actual plane location prior to your flight?
(I remember Dan mentioning one at a seminar but can't remember what it was)
