I'm on Expedia and it does say that...however their policy seems to say that the airline could still charge a fee of their own in some cases.

Would really appreciate some input on this one:
I am supposed to fly to Israel via Brussels Wednesday night from JFK. I am worried that the flight will be delayed/cancelled because of the storm and I will miss my connection in Brussels. The flights were booked on separate tickets (both on Brussels Airlines) through Etihad points.
What will happen if I cannot make the connection will they rebook me?
What is my best course of action?
I can possibly fly from Toronto in stead of JFK, do you think they would put me on that flight?

They always say that, but it's not an issue. If they say free cancellation within 24 hours, that is what you get (usually until 11:59pm Pacific Time the next day IME. When you click on the itinerary after it is ticketed it should tell you how much longer you have to cancel for free).

Beware that if you try to cancel an itinerary BEFORE it is ticketed, you might not be able to do it online. I recently booked an itinerary that involved IB and BA on Expedia. A couple of hours later, I tried cancelling online, but was unable. I called to cancel and was on hold for a long time, and eventually needed to hang up due to Shabbos. I told agent that I am limited in time. I called back after Shabbos to cancel. At first I got some pushback with the agent saying it's past 24 hours (the official policy, though I had only booked on Friday morning, and this was the next day before 11:59pm). It took almost 40 minutes until they were able to cancel it. They said it was because PNR was locked by the airline, where it was sent for ticketing. They needed to get the airline to release the PNR back to them, and only then were they able to cancel.

The saga wasn't over yet. Two days later I see another charge on my CC instead of a credit. Another call to Expedia, asking for a supervisor, about 20 minutes on the phone, and credits were issued. All in all spent almost 2 hours on the phone to cancel and get refund.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Thanks for responding. So in summary, their official policy is to always give a refund within 24 hours (even if the flight is in less time than that), but at times they can be a hassle to deal with...?

Will iyh be going to Israel for 3 months April to July.
Planning to book a revenue flight, my problem is I will likely need to change the return flight to a different date, I tried looking for OW but obviously prices were steep, found with Turkish a RT for $700/800.
A friend of mine told me there is a way to pay some(minimal fee) to be able to get a one change free. Is that true? I couldn't find any backing to that

ETA.
only an agent can offer, like flexible returns on year long flights.
can anyone elaborate?

Try calling a Travel agent.

Misspelled or completely different name?

They would change it if you pay the change penalty + difference in fare

If not, it's no different than ever using someone else's ticket...

Meaning cancel it and rebook it. I've had agents claim they are unable to hold it at the lower fare for the duration of the reticketing process (which was probably due to agents incompetence, although I'm not sure).
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Not sure I understand you, but most airlines don't allow to change names on tickets, JetBlue does allow

Low fare at time of change?

Will AA allow me to put two awards on hold if I would only be able to book one of them but not both with the miles I currently have in my account?

you don't need to have miles in your account to put a booking on hold

+1

You don't even need to give them your AAdvantage # to put flights on hold (for example if you're not sure which account you will book the flights out of).
