Seems to me though that you may be better off applying for 30K and $50 cash back and then emailing to get the other 20K.

Why? then there is a chance that they wont give the extra 20k

Dan I'm surprised if you can't get it. I don't know any tricks of the trade and they just did it. Maybe it helps that I just just opened the card. At this point I see it is bashert that I was not able to upgrade my card to the PP fee-waived card(had to apply and waiting for an answer) , had I done that I'm fairly certain I would not have the extra 20k.

I once applied a couple of years back it was like 21000 miles and then I saw an offer for 21 plus 10k at the end of the year, so I called up and after being put on hold she tells me I'm sorry sir but we do not have a way to apply a end off the year bonus, but I can apply it immediately!

Did you ever have an AA? What reason did they give for the denial?

Chase (unofficially) offers the option to shuffle credit lines when necessary to push through an approval.

I just called for my wife's account and asked to be given the extra 20 and they said they would.  However for mine they wouldn't because I opened mine more than 90 days ago.  Apparently they will only change your offer if you applied withing 90 days.

Thats a better policy then AMEX. I applied during the spg 30k promo,but i used the wrong link.I fought for weeks but didn't get anywhere.

I sent an e-mail from my account on chase.com to the credit card- reward inquiry dept. and i got the reply this morning. Word for word as shmooz. the card that i referenced was opened about 2 months ago, and i am not a major chase customer!

I opened the Chase continental credit card about a month ago when Chase was offering 30,000 miles as a sign up bonus. Chase just started offering 50,000 miles as the sign up bonus for that card.

It seems as i was penalized 20,000 miles for taking advantage of this card and applying too early. I should have waited and signed up now.

Is there any way to change my card type from the 30k sign up bonus to the 50k sign up bonus so i can take full advantage of the card as everyone else is?

account you retain is qualified for the full 50,000 bonus
mile enrollment since the account was established in the
last 60 days. However, in order for the additional 25,000
miles to be added to the account you must first use the
account and receive the original bonus miles. Once the
original enrollment bonus miles have posted to the account
we would be happy to add the additional miles.

At this time we do not show the account has been used for
the first purchase yet.
