I'm trying to set up WAMP on my Win10 laptop, to set up a dev site of my wordpress. I'm getting this error during the installation:

I followed the directions where it said to install like 10 different C++ things, then uninstalled WAMP, restarted, installed again, and got the same error.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks!

I want to set up git with my local wordpress development site, but my host doesn't support SSH. (In the long term we plan to switch hosts, but until then I still want to use git).

And recommendations on how to set it up? I've been using FileZilla for uploading files, and also Sublime Text's SFTP extension.

Thanks!

Use git(hub?) just for the version control, but FTP for publishing the files once version controlled. Although you might want to check out this answer on Stack Exchange

I'm going to use git locally, but is there any way to just FTP the files that have changed? Or do I have to upload the whole thing?

That was an interesting read, thanks! I am planning on switching hosts at some point, when things calm down a little (ha!)

Good luck with that :)

I looked into http://beanstalkapp.com/ a while ago, you can set it up to publish only the files that were changed in Git. I'm not positive that it works without SSH, but based on item #3 you can also FTP or SFTP, so this might be a good idea (they have a free plan too https://signup.beanstalkapp.com/?plan=Free, supposedly only for independent developers...)

I just found this and am giving it a try
