DOC just posted writeup as well.
Seems like it may be interesting for some people.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

Receive a sign up bonus of 100,000 points after $5,000 in spend within 90 days of account opening on the City National Crystal Visa Infinite card.
city national

Application Process & Warning

The application process isn’t online and can be a bit tricky, either go into a branch or do the following:
Download application form from here
Fill out form and send it to Michael Thomas – Senior Relationship Banker at Michael.Thomas@cnb.com
It’s also my understanding that City National will only process applications from states they have branches in, but in the past some below have been able to get around this by e-mailing/faxing their application (NY, DE, GA, TN, NV & CA).

City National also has a fixed focus on relationship banking with high networth individuals, if you don’t earn a lot of money/aren’t in a profession that is expected to have a high salary after a few years (e.g Doctors/Lawyers) then chances are you won’t be approved.

They will most likely require the following to determine if you fall into one of these groups:

W2 or 1099
Previous three months bank statements
Card Benefits & Points Value

Unlimited Priority Pass Select lounge access for two and their guests (e.g one primary and one authorized user card + guests)
$250 airline credit for eligible incidental charges per card per calendar year (including authorized users, but be warned they might send out a 1099-INT for this).
$100 Global Entry Credit
Free CLEAR membership as long as you’re a cardholder in good standing
Crystal Card Concierge service
Visit Infinite Benefits
City National Rewards Points can be redeemed for airfare with most carriers, you can use their airfare search tool to see how many points you need for a flight. It also seems like you can use them to book hotels and cruises. From my testing it seems like you’re normally get around 1¢ per point in value. There are also no blackout dates.

Our Verdict

Obviously this is a great offer, ~$1,000 in sign up bonus value, great lounge access and airline incidentals for more than one person. That being said, I’m not going to apply for this card straight away. I think City National is going to be absolutely flooded with applications from people that don’t meet their target criteria and will end up approving very few if any applicants. On the flipside, they might still run their credit and I’d rather let the storm settle first before throwing my hat in the ring.

Maybe I’m just being too cautious though and missing out on a great deal. If you’re seriously considering this deal, I’d urge you to read our review on this card first.

Saw this on SD, but doesn't sound like a system big enough to slip through.

I just applied for this card at the 6th Avenue Branch in Midtown NY. Hoping to receive word of an approval soon.  Reports from flyertalk are that certain gift cards are being reimbursed, so if one can earn $500 in gift cards, lounge access and a $1,0000 visa gift card all in the first year after spending $5k in the first three months it seems like a fantastic deal; surprised more people who have branches in their state aren't applying. If approved, I plan on purchasing a small southwest gift card as a test to see if the amount is reimbursed.

Does anyone else on DDF have this card? People on FT and reddit are saying that the AU is also getting the $250 incidental fee. Pretty amazing if that's true.

Definitely not unlimited. It's a very relationship based bank so you can't just an AU online. You need to speak with your personal rep that you opened your account with. But I do think it's free. I'm more interested in using it to cover the annual fee for next year.

Yeah, just got the AU yesterday.
It was a crazy horrible application journey. Applied back in October, finally got my card last week.

Basically kept telling me they had all the info and then when I would inquire about the card after a week or two there were always additional documents required. And sometimes they were just silly requests like my work address, even though they had it on my w2 and pay stubs (yes, they demanded both).

I got my CN Visa a few weeks ago. I went to my local branch today to get an AU card for my family member when I read about the airline credit for AU. The process took about 15 minutes. They required name, DOB, SSN, DL number.

He got off easy. My AU required a paystub along with the DL...

The benefits are nice though. I basically see this card as $1,500 in cash, two separate priority memberships and 12 gogo wifi passes.
If no changes are made from year to year then you get the above passes with just $100 a year in cash after the AF

Has everyone who has this card been using PGGM for the credits? MY fear is seeing two cancels on the account turning into an issue.
