Farewell John Sterling.
So interesting to see the reactions from people speaking so fondly about him when they used to get on his cae so much. I think many have feelings which mirror my own. He is a legend who I both respected and loathed as an announcer, and then started to love thanks mostly to the absurdity of his game calling. And no matter how many times he said, "It is high, it is far, it is ..... caught", he was always fun. He will definitely be missed.
He was not a technically good announcer, but the goosebumps he caused and the memories he created are forever ingrained in me. He's definitely responsible for a great deal of 90s kids becoming Yankees fans.
