Nexus Master Thread
« on: May 31, 2015, 05:36:43 PM »
I noticed that the Nexus program has no thread yet, so i will start it.

The Nexus program is a joint USA/Canadian program which allows you GE type entry to USA/Canadian borders and it includes GE membership (and now it includes also TSE Pre) when coming in to the USA.

I have Nexus for the last 2-3 years, and am loving the fact that I it includes Global Entry with it, and + the fee is only $50 vs. $100 for GE.

I signed up my children today on Nexus and I found out that so far there is NO application fee. if it stays this way, this is another reason why I think you should be making Nexus vs. GE.

The only reason not to do it is, that you need to do the interview at a border town or Canadian airport because it's a joint USA/Canadian program.

I flew into YYZ in 2012 or 2013 (can't remember) and completed my application in less than 10 minutes. All in all my cost was 18K Avios, I fly J only :-) but you can it for 9K Avios r/t.

1) Can I make Nexus by Yul as well?
2) do I need sign up/apply for it beforehand or I can just walk into the (I assume there is a) office in the airport?
3) I just swipe my platinum card and I would get refunded the fees?

You apply for Nexus online thru this site: https://goes-app.cbp.dhs.gov/main/goes, once approved you'll have to schedule a interview in one of their offices which includes YUL, yes children under 18 are free, so it is definitely a good program to enroll for someone who travels frequent to Canada.

I then have to Schedule q flight for the exact time of the hearing? ?!
That's tough.

It looks like from this article, that if you have Nexus and you renew you US Passport, you will have to go t one of their locations to update. Is this true, does anyone have any experiance with a renewed passport.

I applied for Nexus for me and my family in mid May and everyone's application is still pending review. It's been 8+ weeks. Is this normal? My wife's Global Entry application (non Nexus) was approved in 3 weeks.

For us it took about 6 weeks 2 years ago. Although for some reason while we all applied at the same time I got approved 2 weeks before my wife.

Of course the day after I posted this the applications were approved. Go figure.

Glad to hear, seems rather arbitrary the waiting period.

Have been reading on FT that people with existing GE were able to add Nexus with no interview.

Interesting.

From the first link it seems like there wasn't even a charge

How long from when you submit the application until you can book an appointment?
Jews ≠ Zionists
Palestinians ≠ Hamas
Satmar ≠ SatmarHQ
