Not even close to the same thing.
I know it's just frustrating, when you get psyched about large bonuses, and then they ultimately don't end up yielding the value you thought they had. Wether your in this for $ or the points.

Go #Chase.

AJ, why do you think its not Amex? Why would BA bother Amex but not Chase. My stupid guess is that BA started charging more for thier miles and Amex passed on that extra charge to us ;)

While Chase swallowed it.
You can say what you think when you think what you say.

... Which means BA was the cause, as I said.

Disagree. I made out like bandit utilizing the points from my 10x100k Citi AA cards. And so have the people who buy AA points. The only people who have suffered as a result of the deluge of AA points are sellers, a category in which I do not belong.

Even if your right that still would mean the devaluation came from BA not amex, it would make no sense for them to start devaluating their point currency just toward a single partner.

The problem for AmEx, though, is that ven if it originated from the BA camp, the ultimate effect is felt most negatively by AmEx.

I agree with you, however as you yourself said the sellers suffered. A category that I unfortunately (sometimes) do belong.

Which is what makes this whole thing even stranger. Since lately there have been quite a few articles written about how amex is losing its grip on the upper class super wealthy crowd to chase and citi... You would think they would do their utmost to keep their products the most premium ones out there!

Oh, I see. Well the 40% one (that ended a few months ago), I think it was about a year after the previous one IIRC. So I'm thinking likely not.

Promos for the past couple years were 5 months apart. One was due right around now

Chase didn't swallow nothing. Their deval is identical to Amex's. BA used to be 1.25 miles per dollar and now it's 1. Isn't 1.25 to 1 the same as 250 to 200?

Correct, but on the UR transfers they kept it the same, while amex did not.
