how do I get around Citi wanting to verify me via cell phone

I applied for CITI HH reserve card last week and after calling in to push app, along they said they
called the mobile number listed on my app .

I have 5 other cards with them .

That's my NYC number and I am in Europe . They said they can't complete app till they speak to me on that telephone number .
Any workaround ? Also wanted to apply for another one after 8 days . What do I put for telephone number on the next app ?

Both cell and home number on vacation suspend and unable to even get messages on them .

I just had this issue with amex. They needed to speak with me on my verified number but for some reason it was blocking their calls so they ended up leaving me a voicemail with a verification code to read back to them

I suggested turning my cell phone back on and retrieve any message /code a la Chase /  directions etc from them , but they said they must speak to me in person on a verifiable phone .

If u don't need that number... I would say port it to Google voice or another internet calling app...

maybe say that you are calling from that number and they should text you and you will read it back to them it worked for me recently

do you think i could ask them to do such (i.e. please leave a voicemail and when i get back from abroad.... i'll call it in) and then just call in right after

I believe with Skype you can have your regular # ring your Skype #...it is a paid feature, but maybe it's worth it for you to get approved.

The other option is you turn your service back on and accept the call from them - although a little bit of $$, maybe worth it for you to get approved?

Turn the number back on and accept the call via SPRINT International ? Then I need to put the sprint GSM card back in . That should work I hope .
