Pomegranate Travel Meals
« on: June 11, 2015, 07:54:00 PM »
Since an airline's KSML usually leaves much to be desired, a popular option among DDFers is to get travel meals from Pomegranate.

Call them at (718) 951-7112 (press 2 for deli) and they'll email you a menu.

The purpose of this thread is to allow the DDF community to share their experiences with these meals, particularly:

Main Dish
Side Dishes
Airline
Class
Did they heat it up? Microwave/Oven?

Formula for success: rise early, work hard, strike oil. –J. Paul Getty

I think his intention was specifically pom meals. But If you look at dans TR to banff, you'll get a detailed description of quite a few of they're dishes.

Yes, specifically POM meals, and in a more organized way. That kinda gave me the idea, though.

Can't do from my phone. But I have a PDF of the menu, which is too large to add as an attachment.

So my wife was reading some TRs with me and ended up wanting to know more about POM meals. Cost, dishes to stay away from, dishes to definitely get, side dishes etc.

I find there to be many TRs who used POM and spendi a brief moment on them but nothing a bit deeper. I wonder why. So Ill just ask some questions and maybe some seasoned POM customers can answer them. (Reason I post here is because a) its much too hard to go through all the TRs spending a brief moment on them and b) don't want to clog up TRs with these questions)

Whats the average cost of a POM meal for travel?
Is fleishig and milchig very different?
Do they make fish meals?
Sandwiches?
What are the side dishes best recommended? Which arent?
Are they packaged for oven or microwave (or both possible and do they cost the same?)
Does anyone else offer POM style meals for travel that are good? (even outside of NY potentially)
Are there hotels that have rejected to help accommodate your POM meals?

Appreciate the feedback and answers to follow.
Work hard, Play harder!

Didn't read my reviews?
This thread really needs a wiki with a ranking of the meals.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.
