Free Day Hertz and Credit card coverage

I want to use a free day certificate and use a credit card to cover the cdw by charging the taxes etc. Best choice was One pass card which is primary but they said they don't cover it unless there is a daily rental fee. Anyone know of a card that will?

AA World MC allows a free day coupon as long as at least one full day is charged, so my idea would be to book for two days, which I might need anyway, and then if I get back in one day, use the free day coupon only. If some damage happens I'll make sure to keep it the second day. Sounds like a good plan?

1)just use the cc that you have and if something happens then don't give the cert in and they'll charge you for the car

2)pay for collision

I dont think that will work,, from my experience (limited bh) the cc company asks for the opening agreement and the closed one to make sure that you rented using the card in the first place. If I book using the cert then the cert will appear on the agreement, if I dont book with the cert at all and then try to use it instead of paying i think i'm at the mercy of the agent.

 i called CO one pass again and asked specifically if I book for two days and one day is free is it covered, and they said yes it is. So that is my best option with the primary coverage. (interesting that she started the call by saying, i see you called yesterday about this, how can i help you today? everything is documented by them.)
