yes. I actually had to close one in order for them to approve all 4. they told me that the limit is 4 charge cards, and 4 credit cards.

Well the 4 credit cards they were right. OTOH 4 charge cards, haven't heard that one yet.

so is the consensus that one can get the bonus for Delta Gold and for Delta Plat? i thought they would be considered the same product family and preclude one from getting the bonus on both.

the bonus posted for all of them allready, the same way the regular gold and platinum are not considered the same product.

what did you mean by "regular gold and plat arent the same product"? you are not referring to the charge cards right? as i'm pretty sure that on those if you've had the personal gold previously you wont get the signup bonus for the personal plat.

you absolutely do get the bonus for the platinum even though you have the gold.

This goes against everything i've read about Amex charge cards. want to make sure we are on the same page here and are still talking about the Membership Rewards cards, not the Delta co-branded products here right?

it doesn't matter if it's a Membership Rewards card or A delta card. platinum and are always considered 2 different products, and you do get the bonus for both.
