The card gives you 25k and if you already have any Amex MR card then you can refer yourself to get another 15k per card by using https://www.americanexpress.com/canada/en/mgm/mgmerChooseAcard.shtml. If you don't have a MR earning card then I'll be happy to refer you. You'll end up with 65k points.

No, I meant 40k.
2 cards x 25 = 50k
2 x referral points = 30k

Not sure that's what he meant...
if BA have another 50% promo is equal to 120k BA . IMO, its not worth the annual fee for the RBC card when its so much easier and cheaper to acquire BA points through Amex.
Either way I don't think the RBC card is worth it unless you can spend 9k in 3 months

its 10k not 15k check the link you sent me

"As the Basic Cardmember, refer a friend and you5 could earn a referral bonus of 10,000 Membership RewardsŪ points for each approved referral6. - that's enough points to redeem for a $100 travel charge7.
Your friend could earn our highest Gold Rewards Card points offer of 25,000 Bonus Membership Rewards points when they charge $500 in purchases to their Card in the first 3 months of Cardmembership8 . Offer subject to change at any time. Plus they pay no annual fee for the first year.*"

I have refered people before and only got 10k so how are you getting 15k? unless you have the Plat that gives you 15k but I had thought we were talking about Gold
still not sure on your math how are you getting to 65k?

you can't refer yourself if you don't have the  card CMIIW, and can you have 2 good cards at once?

If you refer someone else but do not have the Platinum, but select that you DO have the platinum and enter in your Gold # you will get 15k not 10k.

If you have an MR card and refer yourself for 2 cards you will end up with 80k. If you do not have an MR card and open two cards (with the first coming from a public app or someone else referring you) you will end up with 65k.

Also, Amex bonuses usually within a day and the referral bonus the day after the person is approved (often before they even know).

Yes, you can have two active gold cards at the same time.

The 2 gold cards didn't work for me.... Does anyone have experience with with signing up for the Platinum, collecting the bonus points (after spend), & then cancelling the card and get the fee reversed?

I'm fairly certain they will at least pro-rate the fee, but if you didn't get approved for Gold (fairly easy for approval), then why would you go for the Platinum? Also, if you cancel you will lose your points unless you have another active MR card or you transferred them out to BA or AC.

NEW Starwood Canada AMEX 21,000 Point Bonus
« Reply #273 on: October 16, 2013, 12:01:51 PM »
Hi Dan,

There is a new starwood canada amex deal, for 21k spg points for spending 1k in 3 months. This is the best SPG deal for Canada by far. Note: must be referred from someone in order to get it. Otherwise, its 10,000 points.

I have had success waiving the first year $120 fee by sending a PM after signing up, but YMMV.

Thanks

Zach

This is not a new deal and I'm pretty sure you're now allowed to post referral links here. This would net you 10k if anyone signs up.
