Even if you redeem more than $1200 it remains the same only for the amount above $1200 not on the entire redemption.

Maybe you can get them to reopen the account if it's within thirty days or something.

Amex Canada recently copied its US counterpart and stopped backdating the cards' Member Since date. They also set an annual limit on how many referrals you can do (15 per year). Did they put a fork in churning as well?!

Old terms:

BTW friend of mine said he signed up for the AMEX Gold while currently having one and was approved and given the bonus.

In case anyone needed a Reminder until September 30, 2015, get 25% more Avios when you transfer your Membership Rewards® points to Avios.

For example:
• 1,000 Membership Rewards points = 1,250 Avios

no it's not linked. Yes, you can get more than one though I haven't done it a year. Their reps are a bit clueless though. It an be a pita.
