Yup, YMMV.
What you might consider torture I might consider fun.

although 19 hours is kind of a tough one. It's long enough to be annoying but not really long enough to be a real adventure..
I did it myself. straight. pulled over for 4 minutes to fill up gas, and jumped back in.
the kicker - was on a fast day...

I just did this in December.

You dont want to plan which hotel to stay in, you want to drive as much as possible and then stop when you get tired...

Eh, it'll take a lot more than that to impress me.
I guess it gets an honorable mention because it was a fast day, but otherwise not such a big deal...
(although in a way being a fast makes it easier, you're not drinking so bathroom breaks are not much of a problem)

Around Jacksonville FL, you should find decent hotels for cheap, I stayed in a niceish Best Western there for $45 and night. Then its only about another 6:30 hours to Miami

The hotel won't be more expensive, if i just walk in, as opposed to booking it online?

Unless you've done it before and you like a specific hotel etc etc. there is no reason to reserve before.

From the road you will see signs for hotels for under $50

So i am still planning my trip. I want to make a quick stop in "Colonial Williamsburg" in VA (30 minutes detour) "South of the Border" on the I-95 in SC, and the Kennedy Space Center in FL, is there who has been to these places, or other free places along the 95, that can share the opinions etc? Also anything interesting in GA to see, or where to stay in GA?

Thanks alot!

South of the Border is basically a big souvenir shop. but still, after seeing billboards every 20 feet for 300 miles you just  havta stop there...

Every 20 feet, literally? That would be 79,200 billboards, (at 65/mph, that's like 280 a minute, almost 5 per second). I'd be way sick of them by then...

I'm driving from NY-Miami next week, leaving Wed. evening, so I hope to get 5-7 hours of driving in before calling it a night. I'm thinking along the lines of Virginia, anyone have any better ideas?
Thursday, I want to drive most of the day and stay over a few hours out of Miami, but not too far. Has anyone done this drive that can help me with some of the planning?
Thanks!
