I'm driving from NY-Miami next week, leaving Wed. evening, so I hope to get 5-7 hours of driving in before calling it a night. I'm thinking along the lines of Virginia, anyone have any better ideas?
Thursday, I want to drive most of the day and stay over a few hours out of Miami, but not too far. Has anyone done this drive that can help me with some of the planning?
Thanks!
be little more specific traveling with family? Want to see places on way? Want to stop near shul? Kosher food?

Just me and the wife. I would love to stop at any cool places on the way, but I don't have much time to play with. I can't get in to Miami too close to Shabbos, and I'm only first leaving on Wed. afternoon-evening. Area with shul/kosher food would be a plus, but ok if not.

Orlando is a bit out of the way.
There are shuls in savannah, jacksonville, Ormand beach/Daytona  and then nothing till you hit south Florida.
Ormand has a restaurant.

Thanks! I've been to Washington, so I'd rather go somewhere I haven't stayed overnight. Also maybe somewhere an hour or two further. Does Virginia make sense? If so, where in Virginia is recommended? Someone mentioned Richmond...?

Sounds good...If I would want to spend 1-3 hours in the evening "sightseeing (if that's possible after driving all day...), which of those three would be the better, more interesting option?

That sounds cool -last vacation, my promised me we can go on a brewery tour but it was closed when we got there. That would be great, if they have tours late in the day, I'll have to check. Thanks!

Ewwww...that would be really nasty to watch.

I leave you with this:
According to poll data, President Obama's victory on Tuesday was due largely to his popularity with both college students and the unemployed.
So basically Obama became president the same way Budweiser became the King of Beers.

You can stop at the Dogfish Head brewery in Milton DE.

If you're taking 95, it's quite out of the way.
I would suggest hugging the NJ coastline, taking the ferry to DE, driving down the DE coast and taking the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel to VA. Then it's in your way.
That's the way I did it this last summer and it's a lot more scenic than the 95.
I can post the route we took if you're interested.

last I checked they limit you to two beers per person :D
It was a cool tour, it's sort of like a museum but everything is at the tourguides pace so you can't really read all the info.
But I did learn finally why they always use those horses in their ads.

I love the scenic idea, but how much longer will that way take? If not much longer, then  please post the route. My problem is that I don't have all that much time - I'm leaving NY on Wed evening, and I need to be in Miami before Shabbos...

Sounds cool, thanks. Can you recommend a cheap SPG hotel in Jacksonville?

Aren't to many choices I don't think.  Seem to recall they have something downtown. I don't stay at hotels here sorry.
