I love the scenic idea, but how much longer will that way take? If not much longer, then  please post the route. My problem is that I don't have all that much time - I'm leaving NY on Wed evening, and I need to be in Miami before Shabbos...
According to Google Maps, it'll add about 3 hours, including a stop at DFH.
Here is a link to the route we took up until Norfolk. Once you get Norfolk, you can go back to the 95 and continue south.

Thanks. I wonder if we can fit in even those 3 hours...

Doing this drive however, I am doing it out of Toronto. The routes are not really similar until you get to Savannah. I can easily say with certainty, that if you are in Savannah around 7-8ish at night on your second day of driving, and assuming the weather is ok, I would highly recommend just pushing it to Miami. You should easily be able to make it by 2 am into the Miami area.

The drive is a bit of torture but I gain two things out of the trip. 1) A vacation and 2) 4,000+ AAMiles on my return flight home (I wanted to push my 86,000 miles to 90,000 and found some neat hidden routing flights that were the same price as direct flights, however, from what I understand of the ticket, I can only earn base miles and not Qualifying Miles). Plus, it's worth two days of torture to spend a week at the Fontainebleau pool all day and the spa for an hour everyday in the afternoon.

NOTE: The hidden routing flights I found were only from MIA-YYZ. Mine was a bit extreme and will take 12 hours of flying but I'm doing it for the miles and don't mind wasting the day. I found some even crazier hidden routings that would give you from my estimate well over 7,000 miles if not more (and some would even be qualifying miles) but that would take a whole day of flying.

I did not see if someone wrote this yet or not, (I did see a mention of DC..), I know people who have done the drive (I have not) & they did not mind it, others experimented & got stuck in rush hour in different parts of the country, it can be a nightmare. someone I know recently went from NJ & every step of the way he had traffic until Virginia, a real nightmare... plan accordingly........

I am not sure if this is the time or place for this.. but maybe by now some people thinking of driving down to Florida may have changed their mind :)
I have three tickets for Spirit Airlines, (you can use it many places in the country but the flights that I checked are…
out of LaGuardia to either Ft Lauderdale or Orlando the last week of Jan or the first week of Feb.
or you can fly the last week of Jan out of Atlantic City to Ft Lauderdale.
Willing to give a great deal on these tickets (lower than any price you can find plus more...)
The tickets do not include luggage, which if you need anything besides a personal bag (Spirit’s policy) you would have to pay for…
Sorry, already there. Stayed in Richmond, Va first night, near Savanna  Ga second night, pulled into Miami a few hours before shabbos.

I am from ny but I am  driving to Philli to take a flight to FLL the last week of December cuz the flights are so much cheaper than from NY. Does anyone know an inexpensive way to get long term parking in the airport or somewhere close? I will be in FLL for a week. If anyone can give me advice i appreciate it!

Idk if it's the cheapest. But there is a wallypark there. Some Costcos sell wallypark gift cards at a 50% discount.
Look into if it would work there.

Ok, I gotta admit, I'm a bit confused. What's the connection between parking in PHL and roadtripping NY - MIA?

One of the best colonial towns in America, a great amusement park, and lots of beaches all within a few minutes.

Don't bother with NY> MIA, head out west instead. e.g. South Dakota, Wyoming etc. depending on how much time (and money) you have the possibilities are endless...
there'll be more driving buy that trip will be 100x better
