Very exciting!
How do you manage having 2 intense hobbies? Hehe
I manage 2 hobbies, although one can make a point that my second hobby isn't as intense, though it involves lots of heat.

From my sneak preview, you won't be disappointed.
Well you may be, but only in that you didn't decide to go with them!

I'm certain I won't be.  Photography ain't my forte though, so I would've just been a hindrance.

PS:  Sneak Previews ain't fair   >:(   Just do a pic dump already!

Not mine either, but it's a process.

The thing about this trip is, the way things turned out, the views/sights were so incredible that even if you didn't have a camera you would've been perfectly content just laying back and enjoying the show.

Once I got my pictures of the Northern Lights in Iceland, I put the camera down and just watched the show.

Of course that's all in hindsight, had you asked me before the trip I would've said if you're not into photography don't bother coming.

were you guys able to enjoy it as well or were you hyper focused on the photography aspect?

i find it to be a tough balance to maintain even though i dont go to a destination solely for photography but more as a way to document my trip

Absolutely; we didn't just see Iceland through our viewfinders. In fact during the last day we hardly took any pictures at all, as (spoiler alert 8)!) Iceland unleashed all the weather-fury it could muster at us.

And this happened plenty throughout the trip, not just during the aurora:

Once I got my pictures of the Northern Lights in Iceland, I put the camera down and just watched the show.

i found it to be a blessing in disguise that they did not allow cameras on the beach of oman as we watched a sea turtle lay her eggs. i would have been so preoccupied with trying to get the shot, i would not have appreciated the niflaos haboreh

i guess the northern lights is a longer event where you can have time for both

I didn't even bother mentioning it to my wife, because I didn't dream in a million years that she would be okay with me going. But we were sitting at lunch the day that the guys arrived in Iceland, and I mentioned it to my wife, and she's like "oh, why didn't you go with them?" :o :o :o

Actually, she told me to take out my phone right then and there and check if there were still any flights leaving to KEF that day, but the only flights available were the next day, had 2 connections, and cost a fortune. But thank you for having so much faith in her. >:(
