ISO Small Business most economical color printer
« on: January 16, 2023, 03:19:50 PM »
Replacing ink/toner can be very expensive, depending on the printer you have.

Am looking for a recommendation for a All In One color printer to use in a school office, that is very economical when it boils down to cost per page.

It seems like the "refillable tank" options work out to be the cheapest, but how do they preform in a small business setting?

What do you use/recommend?

As soon as you use their subscription the printer will not accept any 3rd party ink cartridges - you will need to pay for the ink subscription or buy their own ink.

An eco tank printer is probably your best bet.

Why?
1. They print in a fraction of the amount of time. If you need 30 cookies of something then an ink key will take a while while a laser can be in under a minute.

2. Ink jets drink ink

3. Generic toner is very cheap for brother and Canon printers

4. Each cartridge lasts longer

For B&W prints, I've been using Brother laser for years, they are cheap, fast, and last for ages.

Right now for color I'm using Lexmark machines and they cost over $200 for a set of toners.

For speed, I'm willing to sacrifice slightly, for a more economical solution. The ink jets now are not like the ink jets of old that did 1 page per min. They may not be as fast as laser, but they are still quite fast.

I'm looking at the Epson EcoTank ET-4850. Any thoughts?

I agree with you 100%. Inkjets get a lot of hate, and rightfully so, but recently there has been much advances and they are much better than they used to be. I know a lot of people that have the Epson that you linked to, or a similar model, and are very, very happy with it. Also look, it has very high number of good reviews. You can barely find any printer that has that many good reviews.
