I feel bad for you that you were scamed like this. Bear in mind that to allow him to repay the interest from your credit cards is, in most cases, ribis gamur. It may be in your best interest to pay it off ASAP if you can. Also, I don't know that it is in the best interest of this forum to become a place to vent these things. Good luck.

1. I know the ribis issue, it's even in this weeks parsha.

2. I am unemployed at the moment. $13,000,  to pay it off ASAP.. Even with a job, how many months of working morning
to night, to pay this back?
I am shedding many tears everyday.

3. I lent the money thinking this this is a great mitzvah, and he was desperate that his family
in Yerushalayim was stuck, and I had a heart. (Although that they were stuck came out to be a lie).
And he told me he will pay me back right after Pesach.

4. From my blog, you can see that this person has been already playing around for me for so many months.
I haven't received a single penny.

5. I realize that I am in this world alone, and I have nobody to help me, so I am venting out my frustration on here.
Perhaps this should be a lesson to the people on here, never to let anyone use their credit cards. It's not worth the risk
even to get miles.

And its not a lesson not to lend money....its a lesson not to lend money to complete strangers!!! If one is able to, he/she has a mitzva to help out a fellow jew!

It's also a lesson not to lend money that you don't have.

Why dont you claim to the CC company that there was fraud on the card. You even know who used it....

While I am unworthy of arguing with your Rabbi, I will say that I don't understand his reasoning. You may want to make sure that he is thoroughly familiar with hilchos ribis, as many Rabbis are not.

I agree i have heard from a highly knowledgeable rabbi on this specific matter and he said that because the cc company is lending it to the cardholder and had no idea it was going for someone else it makes the cardholder responsible for the interest and it is ribis if he should charge the borrower interest

that you did not recieve what you consider to be a benefit is generally irrelevent. Halacha considers there to be two seperate transactions occuring. If I borrow $100 from the bank at interest that is soley my responsibility. That I afterward lent it to you has no connection and I am forbidden to charge you any interest, even to offset my loss.

not so simple
1. there was no benefits on this card no points or milege
2. i gave him the card to buy a ticket home meaning i didnt lend him cash
3. there is alot of room here to argue that it was the bank lending him the money
you may not agree with it and thats ok but someone did alsmach his opinion the basterd paid it off

and you know its a big mitzvah to help people and lend them money when we can
i learnt my lesson here i still try to do good things and help people when i can
but if that guy burned me like someone is doing to em066 i would never have given anyone a penny again because of the bitterness behind that experience
thank g-d it was ok
if it was me and my 13000 i would get the money and his balls too is that ribbis ?
