Wow. Basically all I can think of.

How did you feel in terms of safety - in regards to being on a safari tour so close to the animals and in regards to being in a few different places in Africa, which the media has done a great job of making it seem like some of the most dangerous places on Earth?

From my personal visit there, felt very safe.

Wow is right. I'm still in awe of the trip myself  :)
Safety was definitely a concern, especially for our parents (we were 3 single girls traveling). We did a lot of research and that's why we ultimately ended up booking everything with a tour operator. This way we were picked up from each location by a competent driver/guide and taken where we needed to go. That was more for their comfort than ours and it really didn't seem dangerous when we were there.
As far as being on safari - if you listen to the guide and mind the rules I don't think there's too much danger. Although it was scary when 2 grown lionesses walked directly next to the jeep! I could've touched them if I had reached out (that will come in later installment).
Obviously accidents happen, as is seen by all the recent stories in Zimbabwe, but in general it is safe.

So I am going to figure you flew economy.. How much did the trip cost $$ all included? Also was the hotel/lodge nice? Takes pretty big courage.. not bad!

Thanks to both of you. I appreciate explaining how things were.

Great TR so far! I really love all the pics! What month were you there? If it was June/July/August, how early was sunset and  how was the "great" weather? This is really making me want to plan a trip there myself!

Yep definitely economy. The trip was quite costly but worth every penny! I'm not sure of the exact amount yet but around $6500 all inclusive.

For all 3 of you, correct? Not per person.

We were just there! Mid August. Sunset was about 6. We really got lucky with the weather. Zimbabwe/Botswana was beautiful dry weather with a strong sun. Cape Town was a bit cooler but still nice and sunny.

Not too bad then going mid-winter. Good to know for next year.

Yikes!! Though you may have been able to offset some of it with miles/points.
