We were having a discussion womanizing etc. referring to it as personal traits, then you came along and started discussing bullying to which I said that's not what we were discussing. Does that explain everything?

are you arguing with the person or the point that he is making. if the latter it should not make a difference who defends him

Fair enough. Can you see when you mentioned "personal traits" why I would take that to mean more than just womanizing?

I didn't finish the article, but I don't understand his whole point in the first few paragrpahs. Notwithstanding the part about his predecessor talking about 'pushing the envelope', this is the part I don't get:

Wouldn't the people who provide credit, sell cars, etc. not be the consumers - and therefore not who this particular agency works for? If his argument is that there shouldn't be an agency specifically to protect consumers, then he should say that. But it's not the citizen financial protection bureau, it's the consumer financial protection bureau.

That's where they focus, but they are still government employees and their job is NOT to ruin anyone's life whether or not they are consumers. Meaning their goal is to do what's right, not what they have power to do.

I don't hear it at all.

If the law (or the bureau's interpretation of the law) provides a certain protection to consumers that requires the CFPB to go after a business, the 'damage' to the business is of no concern - the same way the 'damage' to a defendant shouldn't prevent law enforcement/the courts from arresting/prosecting that defendant. So what we're really talking about is differences in interpretation of what protections the law affords consumers. The previous administration interpreting those protections as widely as possible, while the current administration would like to interpret them as narrowly as possibly. But of course he doesn't want to say that in so many words, as it doesn't play as well politically.

Axios reported late Monday that Attorney General Jeff Sessions, urged by President Trump, has been pressuring FBI Director Christopher Wray to fire McCabe.

The outlet reported that Wray threatened to resign if McCabe was fired. White House Counsel Don McGahn reportedly told Sessions that McCabe wasn’t worth losing the FBI director over and risking another media firestorm like when Trump axed former director James Comey last year.

Part of what needs to be investigated is whether or not they followed through on their talk of doing it, but them discussing it is reason for alarm. Even if they did not follow through it is still very troubling for them to have discussed using the kgb as a weapon.
