Verizon Unlimited Data Plans - price being raised $20 as of Nov. 2015

Is this what will finally push people into another carrier so they can get dirt cheap GSM phones? I'm on a month-to-month so will be affected but not sure it's worth it for me at $50 per month as I only use appx 3GB of data per month anyway. Any thoughts?

Its a sad day. At least they are doing this though:

For customers determined to remain on the unlimited plan, Verizon will now let them purchase new smartphones through its monthly device payment plan; previously, you could only buy phones outright at their full retail cost.

Not like I really needed that - I always used one of the various methods floating around for upgrading without losing my unlimited.

A: Anyone who has an UDP is on a month to month, as any contract renewal would've forced you to lose your UDP.
B: Your current usage may not be reflective of your usage in the future as technologies change.

That's the biggie for me, what will happen when 5G and new extreme data uses come out?
Of course they can always raise the price to anything they want...

Reached out to my rep to see if I'm affected by this.

I have 2 smart phones with UDP with upgrades available and 2 basic phones with no upgrades, so easy to use a workaround.
