If you buy a laptop with an ssd preinstalled it will cost a few times the price of buying one and installing it on your own.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I suppose that depends on how much RAM you have to begin with...

This laptop for example with 8gb ram I'd get a SSD before 8gb more ram. But obviously just do both...

True but ram is way simpler than SSD because its completely hardware as opposed to SSD that requires either a clone or a clean windows install (which became much simpler with windows 10 because you can create a windows install disk directly from Microsoft and once you have windows 10 installed you don't need to worry about licensing)

8gb RAM is more than enough unless you are an extremely heavy user. I only saw one person in my office out of about 80 ever max out 8gb RAM except for when something is messed up in which case 16gb wouldn't help either.
