Going to Istanbul these days is a great way to get you SSSS
I actually did not get it on my flight to SAW. I don't think they use the SSSS method to increase screening to a particular airport, they might as well just screen at the gate for that. And I know using logic with regards to the TSA is a bit of an oxymoron, but why would flights to Istanbul be at higher risk of terrorist action just because some fools are use that as a route to Syria?
Looks like I'll have this tomorrow on my 5:59 EWR-LAX flight.
The last minute one way ticket is almost a guarantee that you'll be selected.
Can't print BP?
Five of us returning CDG-BOS on a one-way award ticket, all the same itinerary. Three of us (me, DW, DD-1) all had TSA pre-check. DD-2 had nothing. DS, age 18, had SSSS. I suspect there is some age-based profiling that triggers SSSS.
Can it hurt to apply for a redress number?Couldn't checkin online for Delta TLV-JFK and got SSSS on my BP (but no additional security as far as I could tell). On arrival in US, GE slip siad report for secondary (I made a declaration) but the CBP guy waved me through.
My wife also had SSSS leaving TLV. They didn't seem to care. Was no extra security.
Could you check in online? I couldn't and so assigned seat, either. Had to get to the airport early to grab an aisle seat. If redress number helps for next time, it takes two minutes to apply.
I believe I was able to check in, definitely able to select seat. But unable to print boarding pass.
