Cards worth paying the Annual Fees
« on: October 24, 2015, 10:56:40 AM »

I realize this is a highly individualized question, but I'm curious as to which CCs you consider to be so valuable to you, that you have no issue with paying the annual fees? I'm referring to cards that you carry after getting the sign up bonus...

Also, if you would share the reasons why the card is valuable to you?

Try not to pay any but I would keep the spg card even if I had to pay the fee

+1 The Spg card I do pay the annual fee for. I've had it for 4 years now. It's the only card I actually pay the annual fee mainly for the protections it offers and I buy all things that need those protections on that card.

I try to get the fees waived, but even if I can't, I leave the following open.
1) Ink - 5x at office supplies = 250k UR
2) SPG Personal - only way to get SPG points and for other reasons.
3) IHG - the yearly free night certificate is worth more than $49.

Nearly every personal Amex card. It's worth leaving it open for the (more than) once in awhile that an amazing Amex offer comes around. I would rather pay the annual fee than constantly reshuffling and juggling all my au's

My household has 2 Arrival Plus cards. Now the AF's are due. I'm trying to decide how to proceed. No reason to have 2 of them, right? Keep one and downgrade the other? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Get another Barclays card, close it and move the credit limit.

Definitely not worth paying an AF on that card though.

Why not just downgrade to the no-fee Arrival card?

Isn't the arrival plus 2x on all purchases?
I just found a new supply of forks!

Yes, plus there's a ten percent refund for used miles (soon to be 5)

Yes, but you have to spend $89.5K per year now to offset the AF vs a no AF 2% card.

There are not a lot of 2% cards that can be abused and this is one of them. The 90k might be a problem for some but others will do that is less than a month.

Has to be avail. on the account.. I tried to downgrade, and was told that the "offer" to downgrade was not available on my account, same answer after multiple HUCA's.
