The hotel said i could get hhonors points not only for the rooms but for the ballroom rental for two days. Not sure how that part accumulates points, but bonus!
You get points based on $$ spent at the hotel.

If you want cruises, you won't want to redeem miles/points for cruises directly. Best would be to sell and then pay for the cruise.

Better off selling the UR points and paying for the cruise.

I think you may be able to get automatic Hilton diamond from this stay, but I'm not sure. Anyone know?

25 room nights won't get you Diamond but will get you gold.

You can get gold with a Platinum card. But 25 rooms will go a decent way towards diamond status.

Chase will give you a lot less for your UR than what you can sell for.

.25 cents less if you can book through chase travel, which is a $375 difference.
You're getting advice from one of the biggest experts at maxing out points, take it. If Dan says selling is better value, you can trust him.

Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

I have no doubt. I always look for Dan to chime into the conversation. What card/points can you use for cruises other than cruise branded cards that give you a really lousy return?

150k ur is $2250 towards a cruise from spending 10k. You're not getting better value than that.

The hotel said i could get hhonors points not only for the rooms but for the ballroom rental for two days. Not sure how that part accumulates points, but bonus!

HHonors give 10ppd base for hotel stays then almost always has a promo to double or triple that.  They give a 50% bonus if you choose just HHonors or instead of that you can choose to get points plus airline miles and then another 25% on base if your gold, 50% Diamond.  So a $100 stay should get 2-4k points (although for event spending they only give one point per dollar), so even without their cc you should get hundreds of thousands of points.

They're definitely correct that if you don't want to use the HHonors points at their hotels, which will provide the highest value but don't suit your needs, just sell them because they trade horribly thru their program (10k HHonors to 1k airline).

You shouldn't be thinking of which points should be used directly towards a cruise. Rather, think which points get you the most $$ and then you look for the best paid deal on a cruise.

OK. Here is what I decided to do. I just enrolled and was approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred to get their 50K UR bonus, then adding my wife for the 5K UR extra bonus. Next, in a week or so after i get the card, I will do their refer a (my wife) friend for another 5K UR bonus and  My wife will sign up for the Chase Sapphire Preferred on her own and get the 50K UR bonus and then add me as an authorized user for the extra 5K UR bonus.  We will charge half of the BM costs on her card and half on mine to make the 4k in charges in 3 months.

- So that would be a total of 115,000 UR points.
- Plus we would get 2X UR points for travel and the entire BM is at the Hilton so we would get the entire BM cost 2X in UR points. (another 25-30K in points)
- Plus we will get the points for Hilton Honors members.

Make sense?

Sounds like a good plan.

Chase takes their time sending referrals, so make sure you do it as soon as you activate your card.

My Citi Hilton Reserve is offering an additional 5 points per dollar, for a total of 15 ppd on Hilton spend. Not sure if it's very targeted or not.

Do you have a link for this?  I spend a ton at Hiltons and this could be huge.

You don't need to send the email to her (which can take a week plus). Go with the Twitter or Facebook option and copy/paste the link. It's a 3 min process. Also keep in mind that chase referral offers are somewhat targeted and not always available to everyone.

Sorry I didn't mean to get you so excited, I think the offer is capped at a certain amount (5/10k extra points). They sent an email awhile back.
However, for my card they seem to always be running a promotion for bonus points. Before this promo there was one for an extra 3 ppd.

You referring to this triple points promotion?
