There is no way they are offering more than 3

It's either 2 or 3 per point

I'm hoping for 3 but fear for 2

If they triple I would strongly consider Keeping my points with Marriott

Also we have to see what happens to platinum spg suite upgrade status

Either way might be time to accumulate spg points if it goes to 3

Because after the cc gone it will be 3x as hard to get them going forward

The bigger question is what the point rates on existing spg properties will be. Its highly doubtful that category 2,3,4, properties will be 12k,21k, and 30k respectively. Probably more  like 20k,30k,40k which makes the value of 1/3 meaningless.

If it's 70k Marriott redemption per night instead of 35k ritz is 70 if I recall correctly

I'm down for triple spg points

Why wouldn't they just leave it at 10k/15k/20, which is their current award chart?

That would make 3x pretty cool.

Spg points won't triple

Only if redeemed thru Marriott's brother program

Ok so looks like we're good till 2018

Now it's all flowers till then

Note that this won’t create one account — you’re just associating your two existing program accounts with each other. Points have different values in each program, but you can transfer them between your loyalty accounts.

Once your Rewards and SPG accounts are linked, you’ll instantly receive Status Match across both programs. If you currently have Elite status in one of the programs, your highest Elite status level will apply across all accounts.

What’s the conversion rate between SPG Starpoints and Rewards points?
We’ve developed a conversion rate that brings the value of the points in each program on par with the other. Here’s the breakdown:

1 Starpoint transfers to 3 Rewards Points

Conversely

3 Rewards Points transfer to 1 Starpoint

For example, if you transfer 9,000 Rewards Points to your linked SPG account, 9,000 Rewards points will be removed from your Rewards account and 3,000 Starpoints will be added to your SPG account.

How long does it take for my transferred points to appear in my other account?
It’s instantaneous. Once you transfer, you can redeem your points for stays, merchandise or experiences immediately.

So you can now get 26,666 SPG for the 80,000 Mariot card sign up bonus. That's a pretty good deal.

I a little wish it were 2 to 1 since they allow transfers both ways :)

I just realized that all those rumors about the Chase SPG card? What it really was, was the same old Mariott card with the ability to transfer points

This can also be useful for using SPG for Ritz.
A cat 1 Ritz would be 10k SPG per night.

Gold status is stronger now

Platinum is weaker

Best part is you can transfer back if you cancel your hotel stay

Imagine they keep this forever this would be a awesome merger

But come 2018 sounds like it's going to end.... so much for trying to reach lifetime platinum
